Not depressing but certainly sobering. My gra...Wow! Not depressing but certainly sobering. My grandfather fought in WWI. I have a photo of him wearing his gas mask. That photo has always seemed like a novelty to me; it no longer does now that I understand more about the degree to which gas was used in that war. What you've written here also helps me understand why my grandfather talked so little about anything at all and never about the war.
